Phragmipedium humboltii x Phragmipedium kovachii

Description

Phragmipedium humboltii × kovachii is a rare slipper orchid hybrid combining two of the most spectacular species in the genus. This humboltii × kovachii hybrid captures the dramatic flower size influence of Phragmipedium kovachii combined with the strength and structure of humboltii. This is a new P. kovachii hybrid, and our first release of this cross.  For fans of large, red flowered Phragmipedium, this is for you!  This cross combines all the best qualities of its parents.  It gets a dark, intense color from P. humboltii and size from P. kovachii.  The color in the photo is true to form for what we have seen thus far from this exciting cross!  Plants are blooming size in 6 inch pots.
