Paphiopedilum armeniacum

Description

These are blooming-size selfings from two of our better mother plants of Paph. armeniacum.  Our plants are blooming size; these are not mid-sized seedlings a few years away from blooming.  Paph. armeniacum produces huge (for the size of the plant) golden yellow flowers atop very tall (15-24 inches is typical) flower spikes from January through March. This species is becoming very rare in its habitat due to over-collecting.  The Vietnamese buy these by the car load for the Tet holiday as they consider these plants to be good luck.  These can be tricky to grow and flower, contact us with any questions.
